A Brief History of the Club and it's Philosophy

Metro Black Magic Soccer Club was founded in 1990 by Steven Zaino. Steve saw a need for a local club that would be conveniently located for players from the Tri-Valley area. Steve’s mission was to provide children with the opportunity to train locally and compete at the highest level of soccer possible, emphasisizing individual player development, low pressure, affordability and fun.

Now in it's second generation of stewardship under Andy Brown, the club adheres to it's founder's philosophy. We value highly the relationship between coach and player, the rewards we get through bonding and developing as a team, the character growth that occurs when we meet and overcome challenges together, and the love for the game and what it teaches us about life. To foster continuity and stability, our coaches stay with their teams from U10 training to U19.

Black Magic is an inaugural member of the Massachusetts Premier League . Through the years, Black Magic teams continue to place highly in tournament, league, state and regional play in their respective age divisions. Many of our players stay with us for their entire MAPLE careers. Many have gone on to become High School and College team captains, All Stars, MVP's and All-Americans as soccer players. More importantly, we feel we take a hand in helping to shape them as responsible, well rounded, compassionate people.
